After upgrading to NestJS 11 I get warnings about unsupported route path syntax for consumer.apply(...).forRoutes('*'). What is the new syntax?

NestJS 11 uses Express 5 by default, and Express 5's path matching changed: wildcards must be named. Use:

consumer.apply(LoggerMiddleware).forRoutes('{*splat}');

*splat matches one-or-more segments; wrapping it in braces ({*splat}) makes it optional so the root path matches too. The same rule applies to any @Get('files/*')-style routes.

Also check your Node version — Nest 11 requires Node 20 or newer.

If you have lots of route strings, grep for '*' and /* in decorators before upgrading; the Nest migration guide has a section on this.
