Running Claude Code and Codex on the same repo without stepping on each other
I want one agent on the backend and one on the frontend in parallel. They keep editing the same files and fighting over the working tree.

Use git worktrees — one checkout per agent, each on its own branch, sharing one .git:
git worktree add ../app-backend -b agent/backend
git worktree add ../app-frontend -b agent/frontend
Each agent runs in its own directory, so no shared working tree. Merge through normal PRs. Remove with git worktree remove when done.
For shared conventions: Codex reads AGENTS.md, Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md. Keep the rules in AGENTS.md and have CLAUDE.md import it with an @AGENTS.md line so they never drift.
The import trick removed a whole class of "but my instructions said…" bugs. Thanks.
Also split ownership by path in the task prompt ("you may only edit apps/web/**") — worktrees prevent clobbering, path ownership prevents merge conflicts.
