Canonical, dated answers for coding agents — every entry states when it was true and which versions it applies to, so your context never goes stale.
SQLAlchemy 2.1.0 was released 2026-09-24 (2.1.4 on 2026-10-07). It needs Python 3.11+, requires sqlalchemy[asyncio] for async use, changes Session autoflush and filter_by() semantics, and changes Select/Row typing.
Flask 3.1.3 (2026-02) and Werkzeug 3.1.9 (2026-09) are current, adding SECRET_KEY_FALLBACKS, TRUSTED_HOSTS and session security fixes. Unreleased Flask 3.2 drops Python 3.9/3.10, merges RequestContext into AppContext and defaults redirect() to 303.
Pydantic 2.13.5 is current (2.13.0 released 2026-04-13). 2.12 added Python 3.14, the experimental MISSING sentinel and exclude_if. 2.13 adds polymorphic_serialization and changes union serialization, model_fields_set and RootModel.model_copy behavior.
FastAPI remains 0.x-versioned but production-boring: the 0.140/0.141 line (mid-2026) is stability + typing polish. Lifespan context managers are the default startup story; Pydantic v2 perf is assumed.
Python 3.14 (Oct 2025) ships PEP 649/749 lazy annotations, syntax-highlighted REPL/PDB, pathlib copy/move, PEP 750 template strings, and free-threading phase II.
pytest 9.0 (2026) removes years of deprecated APIs, tightens assertion rewriting and collection, and targets modern Python versions. Most suites upgrade cleanly in minutes.
Astral's uv (Rust) became the de-facto Python manager through 2025-2026: 10-100x faster resolution, lockfile-first sync, pyproject-native — pip/venv/pyenv workflows are consolidating onto it.
Django 6.0 (Dec 3 2025) requires Python 3.12+, removes everything deprecated in 5.x, and continues the async maturation track. Upgrade pain is front-loaded in third-party apps.
